As the tourism economy continues to prosper at home and abroad, major city airports are seeing a steady increase in flight volume and passenger throughput. In the background of increasingly complex and intensive baggage handling demands, how to support luggage sorting with more efficient and intelligent technological methods has become key to improving the efficiency of terminal operations.

For this regional hub airport in East China, intelligent system construction is becoming increasingly important. In the T1 terminal renovation project, the airport chose Wayzim’s Linear Cross Belt Sorting System as the key equipment to build a more efficient, flexible, precise, and stable baggage sorting system. As the data and logistics hub for conveying baggage from the check-in counter to the baggage hatch, the system covers key sections such as check-in counters, baggage recognition, automatic sorting, and chute delivery.
The project construction started in December 2021, and the system was officially put into use at the end of 2022, becoming the first case in China to achieve fully automated baggage sorting with the Linear Cross Belt Sorter.

The Linear Cross Belt Sorter achieves linear sorting through end-point infeed, delivering a system capacity of 1,500 pcs/h and effectively mitigating the risk of baggage congestion and accumulation during peak periods.

The sorting carriers output baggage through belt operation, and the height difference between the carriers and the sorting receiving points is small, allowing for flexible sorting throughout the process with zero damage.

The system precisely identifies baggage and allocates destinations, and the carriers move stably and precisely during infeed, greatly reducing handling errors such as wrong or missed baggage while improving the baggage service quality and passenger satisfaction.

The advanced baggage handling system improves the management and efficiency of digital operations, greatly reducing the airport operations costs.

The automated baggage handling system tackles the challenge of limited sorting space through end-point infeed and linear sorting, perfectly fitting the equipment with the site space for efficient automated baggage sorting.
The system consists of two major systems, the departure system and the control system, with a total equipment length of approximately 475 m and a handling capacity of 1,500 pcs/h.

The standard baggage departure system includes the linear cross belt sorting system and the camera system for baggage tag recognition.

The software control system includes an electrical and control system, an information processing system, an equipment monitoring system, and a video surveillance system.

Currently, Wayzim’s Linear Cross Belt Sorting System has been successfully deployed at a number of airports, helping customers build an intelligent and efficient core module for baggage sorting.
The launch of this project has significantly accelerated baggage handling at the airport, with the sorting error rate down by nearly 100% and the overall operational efficiency up by 30%. This project has provided a practical and replicable model for digital management and intelligent operations of airports.
Summary
The success of this airport project in East China is another important application of Wayzim equipment for automated airport baggage handling and demonstrates the company's continuous innovation and system delivery capabilities in the key logistics equipment sector.
